Joe C's For Sale Picture 8/06

On August 19, 2006, we packed up and headed back

to North Georgia and brought Joe home.  We placed

him in a large round pen for a day or so before he was

turned out to pasture.  He could see Curly, who would

eventually become his pasture buddy.

Our homework built a family album of Joe C's

relatives, and determined Joe looked a lot like his

pregnant momma, Paulette.

No photo album is complete

without baby pictures.

Yep, they're all Joe C's babies.

BUT the effort was worth it.

On September 23, 2006 (35 days into bootcamp to be exact)

we took two-year old Joe C and one-year old Pippy

to their first show for entry into a Model Hunter Class.

Look how handsome and spiffy he already looks!!

  Shared their toys . . .

We were so proud of Joe C's progress,

we took a photograph of him almost one year later

to memorialize the transformation . . .

 Before:

As of January 2008, Joe C was gelded

and is now even better than ever!

He keeps his figure now by carting

willing participants around the farm. . .

Joe C (Sans Georgia Clay!) by Jennifer MacNeill-Traylor ~ Gypsy Mare Studio

Joe C's story began   in  North Georgia  where  he was  living  the  good  life  as  a  proven stallion at the ripe age of two.  We instantly fell in love with him as he was  living  the  Bohemian  life, enjoying a diet of fruit, garden  veggies  (yes, including  green  beans),  fresh  mountain air and, especially, mares.

We sat with Joe in the round pen for a long time

planning our attack on his makeover from

Cave Horsie to Stud Muffin.

During this time, we got familiar with each other,

determined he could balance a cafeteria tray

on his back, and watched his antics

while begging us for attention.

But we finally acquired pictures of

his father and grandfather who were both well-accomplished champions in the miniature world.

Jess saw a diamond in the rough with Joe C,

and  immediately put him into

horsey bootcamp . . .

 . . .complete with spa-days.

Joe was miserable!

Since Joe trimmed down,

got healthier and won a ribbon,

Jessie's sons, Briar & Wyatt,

thought Joe C should get a reward,

and granted him a day's pass

to watch daytime TV. . .

. . . and tried to convince him to take a nap.

After!

playing with the big boys, holding his own. . . .

and living happily ever after!

THE END.
